Grant Program History

CAGC Foundation Logo

The CAGC Foundation has been awarded significant funding from the North Carolina General Assembly to advance workforce development and support minority business growth in the construction industry. A $2.5 million grant was secured to establish the Construction Bootcamp, an accelerated training program in partnership with the NC Community College System. This initiative equips students with the foundational skills needed to succeed in construction while connecting graduates with mentors and immediate opportunities for job placement, apprenticeships, internships, and degree programs through the Foundation's extensive network.

Additionally, the Foundation received $3.0 million to host Construction Business Academies, empowering minority contractors and subcontractors to successfully compete in the industry through targeted training and coaching. Since launching its first cohort in January 2023 in Charlotte, NC, the Construction Business Academy has supported over 100 minority- and women-owned small businesses statewide, offering both in-person and virtual training to ensure accessibility and continued growth. All program costs are fully covered by grant funding, ensuring broad access to these transformative opportunities.
